Generated color character — not a sample photograph

Ilford Delta 100 uses core-shell tabular grain technology to deliver very fine grain, high sharpness and a wide, smooth tonal range. It is a modern fine-grain film for detailed, contemplative black-and-white work.

Character & look

Delta 100 offers crisp detail and near-invisible grain with a long, gentle tonal scale that renders skies, textures and skin with subtlety. Its tabular grain structure gives higher acuity than traditional cubic-grain films of similar speed, and it enlarges cleanly to large sizes. Contrast is moderate and easily tuned in development, and highlight separation is excellent. Like other T-grain-style emulsions it prefers consistent processing, but it is more forgiving than some. At its 100 speed it suits tripod-based landscape, still life and studio shooting where its clarity and smooth gradation are best appreciated.

Shooting & development tips

Develop in DD-X or ID-11 for smooth tones; use a tripod to make the most of its resolution. It scans cleanly with excellent shadow detail when exposed at box speed.
